Sweep Your Parking Lot and Roadways To Keep The Puget Sound Waterways Clean!
Unattended parking lots will lead to the accumulation of dirt, sand, and rocks, which are then redistributed around the site by vehicles, weather and foot traffic. This can lead to dust in the air for costumers to inhale, and gather on vehicles, storefronts and seating areas as well as, deterioration of the pavement, seal coating, and striping shortening the service life of your facilities. Landscapers blowing down the parking lot only redistributes these accumulated heavy metals, oils and debris back into the air instead of removing them from your property-a good example would be using a blower to clean your carpet or vacuuming it to remove the dirt and debris.
Stormwater Treatment systems and gutter burms do help as well, but sweeping is one of the EPA’s #1 recommended Best Management Practices to reduce the amount of pollutants entering local rivers, lakes, and streams. It is also 1/3 the cost of cleaning these pollutants out of these storm system devices with vactor trucks once it ends up in catch basins, vaults, swales and ponds.
Sweeping with Regenerative Air Vacuum Trucks is one of the best BMP’s for Stormwater as the air used to gather the material isn’t redistributed back into the air. Any trash, sediment, heavy metals, hydrocarbons, oil, rubber from tires, and grease are all pollutants reduced to help the environment. Sweeping will also make your lot look great, remove moss with gutter brooms and prevent slip and falls in loose debris on your property- which are important for both the environment and the curb appeal for your business or community.
The industrial Stormwater permit changes have required quarterly sweeping in order to keep in compliance and avoid costly fines and escalation by compliance teams. Sweeping will also lengthen the life of your lot so you get the best return on your investment.
Whirlwind runs our sweeping and vactor teams 24/7/365 and our fleet is all regenerative air trucks with gutter brooms and highly trained teams. We will be happy to work with you to schedule your sweeping maintenance at times that are convenient for you and your costumers and work around noise ordinance, traffic and environmental issues specific to your property.
